Here is my final lesson plan for week 7. As you scroll down, some of the graphing does not match, I have not figure out how to undo it. I revised it, but it would just go back to default. Please let me know if this is easily read or if there are any suggestions to better explain my lesson plan. Thanks in advance.

and percentages

GOALS
Content Standards:

Real Life: Student understands how to plan and budget to for their upcoming Christmas party, including how to conclude taxes, gas consumption, comparing prices, and shipping and handling costs.

Classroom Target: Students understand how to problem solve real life scenarios using basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
ISTE NETS-S

o Creativity and innovation
o Communication and collaboration
o Research and information fluency

o Critical thinking, problem-solving, & decision-making
o Digital citizenship
o Technology operations and concepts
Instructional objective(s):
Students will be presented a task of creating their own Christmas party as a proposal using only $75 as the cap and the overview of the project. There are no restrictions as to where they may find these prices, whether they be found on the internet or using their digital/phone cameras. The components of the party will be up to each group. Students will need to take into consideration of gas, distance, shipping and handling, taxes if applicable, coupon amounts and the product price for a specific quantity. Students will be able to compare prices of stores and how much of a difference if they were to buy in bulk.

Day 1: Students will brainstorm on what they would like to have in the party and search the internet for prices, while also giving each student a task to take pictures of prices and the product for a possible candidate for the party. Coupons can be found on the internet or from a Sunday newspaper. Find anything that will help the cost be effective.

Day 2: Students will collaborate using a wiki to type in what they have found, uploading pictures or urls with the prices. This way, students can see what the best deal they found on so far. This day will be for students to continue shopping online for best prices, then come to a conclusion of what they need and how much money they would have spent.

Day 3: Students will then use the storytelling software to present their proposal to the class using mathematics to show students how they came to their conclusion. Once all the proposals are presented, the students will vote on which proposal is the best in cost and presents a well throughout catering atmosphere. At the end of the slide, they will need to draw a setting of what the Christmas party will be envisioned.
ACTION

Before-class preparation:

DAY 1:
Create a worksheet with the scenario/proposal.
Create a worksheet that informs students about precautions on the internet, including not providing their real names and credit information since this is a proposal.

DAY 2:
Make sure the Internet is working.
Make sure Wikis are set up with student having access
.

DAY 3:
Make sure the Internet is working.
Make sure Wikis are set up with student having access.
Make sure all computers are loaded with the storytelling software.

10 minutes

15 minutes

15 minutes

Warm up

Discussing overview of the project and what they can do to search prices

Demonstrate how to find prices and recap on internet precautions

Students will collaborate what they would like to have in their party and assign each student a task of looking up certain items on the internet or take pictures in stores.

LCD projector and computer with Order of operation warm up.

Proposal worksheet

Computer, LCD projector, internet
Precaution worksheet

Wiki set up, each member participating

Notes: Students will be able to choose their groups since they would have the roughly the same idea of how a party should be. Also they would be able to collaborate more freely since they know each other and possibly be able to go to a store together. Intellectual levels may be a good variation as well since they are able to choose their own group. Students will be in groups of four.

Day 2
10 minutes

15 minutes

25 minutes

Warm up

Explain to the students how to organize their data they have gathered in Excel.

Collaboration and recording data, and come up with a solution for the final proposal.

LCD projector and computer with Order of operation warm up.

Spreadsheet
Computer
Data gathered for input

Wiki
Data gathered for input

Notes: Students will be able to use the wikis for collaboration and Excel to compare prices for unit cost, tax, and product price. They will come to a conclusion as to what products they will be able to purchase without over spending of the $75.

Day 3
10 minutes

10 minutes

30 minutes

Warm up

Collaboration and recording data, and come up with a solution for the final proposal.

Students will create a storytelling for their proposal using a story telling software.

LCD projector and computer with Order of operation warm up.

Storytelling software

Notes: Students will be able to present their proposal in their unique way to win classmates to vote for the group.

MONITOR

Ongoing assessment(s): The teacher will go around for the monitoring, documenting observations for each group and facilitating rather than teaching.

Accommodations and extensions:

For all students: They are accommodated by working in groups, all which have different levels of technology and shopping skills.
ELL student: They will have a copy of the instruction written in their language if possible by using Google Translation. Also, the teacher will make sure that he/she will have an English speaker in the group to help him/her on researching.
Blind/near sighted with no corrective lens students: They will be placed closer to the board for better viewing. Their computer will be viewed on greater than 125% in order to make the font larger.
Difficulty in writing/reading students: Students with this difficulty will need to come equipped with Dragon or another type of writing software. Or another student can help with the data entry is also an option.\
Special Education students: They will be accommodated according to their Individual Educational plans.

Backup plan
:
DAY 1:
If the internet is down, perhaps, magazines or newspaper ads will give students idea of how much items are. They can still brainstorm without the internet.
If the wiki is not working then paper and pencil kept in a folder will work as well while they collaborate.

DAY 2:
If the internet is down, perhaps, magazines or newspaper ads will give students idea of how much items are. They can still brainstorm without the internet.
If the wiki is not working then paper and pencil kept in a folder will work as well while they collaborate.

DAY 3:
If the school is unable to get the storytelling software to work on the computers, then students can cut and paste out of magazines or print out what they find on the internet and make a poster or they can use PowerPoint presentation software. Also, students would use Excel to add the sale prices together along with taxes, shipping and handling and etc. as part of their presentation.

If the internet is down, students who have internet on their cell phones can access the items they are planning to purchase and creating a poster or a PowerPoint presentation. If there are not any students who have the internet access to their cell phones, then we would talk about the importance of budgeting, taxes, savings, and if there is time, we could budget a normal college student budget so they have an idea what to expect when they have to support theirselves in the future. (At least until the internet is back up to running)

EVALUATE AND EXTEND
Lesson reflections and notes:
Day 1:
Evaluation will be done after the class is over on what was successful and unsuccessful during transition time. That way, when the day is over, I will be able to reflect and revise on the lesson plan.
Day 2:
Evaluation will be done after the class is over on what was successful and unsuccessful during transition time. That way, when the day is over, I will be able to reflect and revise on the lesson plan.
Day 3:
Evaluation will be done after the class is over on what was successful and unsuccessful during transition time. That way, when the day is over, I will be able to reflect and revise on the lesson plan. I will reflect on the points and what need to be clarified for the next time I do this problem based lesson. Also, I will record whether the students enjoyed their campaign of persuading their classmates to vote for their proposal on day 4 or not. I will recode the success and the problems that I may had faced to avoid them in the future.
